The Rain…
First rain for over 3 months – since the deluge in October, and it coincided with the visit of Uncle Paul and Grandad. They were here for just two days, having driven over in the Puke Green Coupe – a car for Jack and Caitlin to learn to drive in.
They came bearing gifts – DVDs, sweets, Mint Imperials and Yorkshire Tea bags, not to mention half a pig in bacon, and a faulty fan belt in spite of which, they managed to make their trip down in about 24 hours.
Have just delivered them (& Jen) to the 6:30 train so they can fly back and the sun has come out. Two children still in bed with colds, hunters shooting at everything, but at least the sun is out.
Strange how necessary it is – dogs and cats need drying out – need to collect some more wood for the fire, the life is trickling back into our batteries, and the veg patches look more interesting.
I will go and smoke a fag outside in the sun, with a fresh cup of Yorkshire Tea – a good start to the day.
